The central province of Ha Tinh should focus on training human resources to implement major industrial projects, emphasized State President Nguyen Minh Triet during a working visit to the province from July 3-7.
President Nguyen Minh Triet said the province has achieved a growth of more than 9 percent in the first half of the year. However, it remains one of the poorest provinces in the country with nearly one-third of poor households below the poverty line. He said poverty in the province is attributed to the consequences of the war and natural calamities.
President Nguyen Minh Triet said Ha Tinh has great potential for becoming an industrial province, as it hosts six major national and provincial projects including the Vung Ang Steel Plant with a total investment capital of US$7.87 billion for the first phase. Construction of the plant will start on July 6.
It is expected that six major industrial projects in the province will need more than 100,000 labourers.
President Triet also noted that apart from developing industry, local authorities should invest in agricultural production, ensure food security and improve people’s living conditions as this is of great significance to both the country and the province.
